Year 6 pupils had a visit from Andy Taylor who successfully climbed Mount Everest in 2016. Andy was a Headteacher in Calderdale for many years and still works in schools. He brought along some of his climbing equipment and tools and talked about his experiences climbing the highest mountain in the world. The pupils asked lots of questions (one of the best being ‘If you were to total the height of all the mountains that you have ascended, how high would you have climbed? ) Andy’s visit made the pupils’ work in geography on the Arctic and Antarctic seem much more real.
