We hope that all of our families continue to keep well and have managed to enjoy some of the lovely weather we have been having this week. Thank you to so many of you for the lovely messages of support you have been sending, particularly this week, they really are appreciated. We have also received a pupil version of ‘I have a song to sing’ in response to the staff version on the website and which has put a smile on all of our faces.
Hopefully, you will have received our letter on Tuesday following the statement issued by Calderdale Council on the wider opening of schools therefore, school will remain open only for the children of key workers. If you are in this category, and require childcare from 2 June, and haven’t already done so, please email [email protected] stating your child’s name, class and the days you will require. We will then be in touch to confirm if we can accommodate your request.
From Monday 25th May – 1st June inclusive, the vast majority of staff will be taking a well-earned break therefore they will NOT be monitoring Purple Mash, our on-line learning platform and no additional activities will be added. The school website has a wealth of information and resources which have been selected by school staff, should you wish to access these, including some fun activities for half term. Please check them out, particularly if you fancy a baking challenge or want to share the talents of your family pet! The website also includes information and advice in relation to staying safe online in recognition of the increased amount of time children continue to access on line learning.
We are very much looking forward to seeing more children back in school and please be assured we will continue to plan for the wider opening for more pupils as soon as it is deemed to be safe and will contact you as soon as we have further information.

Previous Update from May 20
The Government have previously suggested that schools may be able to open more widely from the week commencing 1 June.
Today we have received the attached letter from the Director of Children and Young People’s Services at Calderdale Council which states:
Calderdale Council are advising schools not to open more widely until we can be confident that children, young people and staff are able to return to classrooms safely.
Consequently, our preliminary plans to admit more pupils are on hold until further advice is received from the Local Authority. Undoubtedly, this announcement will cause frustration and uncertainty for all concerned but we continue to prioritise the safety of our pupils and staff.
We were very much looking forward to seeing more children back in school and please be assured we will continue to plan for the wider opening for more pupils as soon as it is deemed to be safe and will contact you as soon as we have further information.
In the meantime, school will only be open for childcare of pupils whose parents are critical workers. If you are in this category, and require childcare from 2 June, please email [email protected] stating your child’s name, class and the days you will require by 3pm on Wednesday 20th May. We apologise if you have already provided this information, but in light of today’s announcement, we are now planning for different circumstances.
Please note the school will be closed to all children on 1 June.
Your ongoing patience and support is greatly appreciated at this very challenging time.
